Over the past two weeks, four groups presented chapters 1 through 17. Group One discussed chapters

1,2,3 and 5. Group Two discussed chapters 4,6,7 and 8. Group Three discussed chapters 9,10,11 and 12.

Finally, Group Four discussed chapters 13,14,15,16 and 17. All the groups discussed how we can best

present and tips about public speaking.

Group One was the first group to present, so they were the first of the groups to break the ice. All

the pressure was on group one as they were the first group to present, and they did a great job! Group One

is composed of Bryana Pumarol, Alyssa Betancourt, Alexander Redondo, Drew Raph-Lundeen,

Dashka, and Anna Granda. Chapter 1 was presented by Alyssa Betancourt and deals with the history of

public speaking and how it goes way back to ancient civilization. I liked how Alyssa summarized Chapter

1 very well, and how she kept her cool and read through her part with very few hiccups. Chapter 2 was

presented by Alexander Redondo and dealt with methods for building your confidence. Overall, I felt that

Alexander did a good job, as he had great information, but he could have used some pictures that related

to his topic to help retain the viewer’s attention. Chapter 3 was presented by Bryana Pumarol and deals

with listening, how we can lose focus in noisy environments, and the key components of listening. I

enjoyed Bryana’s part, as it felt like she knew what she was talking about and rehearsed what she was

talking about. Chapter 5 was presented by Drew Raph-Lundeen and dealt with adapting and connecting to

your audience. Overall, I feel Drew did a great job, as she had a great mix of images and well-presented

information that was very clear and concise. The second half of Chapter 5 was done by Anna Granda and

deals with gathering data from your audience. I feel that Anna did a good job, but maybe she could have

crunched the information into bullet points. Overall, I felt that Group One did an amazing job, and I

greatly enjoyed it!

I was a part of Group Two, and Group Two is composed of the leader, Elizabeth Joseph, Julia Orchilles,

Isabella Camacho, Eduardo Hernandez, Jorge Mairena (me), and Jaden Jones. I won’t go into much detail

about my group, but overall, I felt that we did a great job. If anything, I have more criticisms about

myself. I could have slowed my reading a bit as I tend to get nervous when publicly presenting.

Group Three is composed of Kayla Keddon, Krysten Castaner-Molina, Melany Perez, Lauren Aguilar,

Kevin Dorta, Laura Echavarria Vanegas, and Leily Rivero. Chapter 9 was presented by Krysten Castaner-

Molina and dealt with the beginning and end of your speech. Overall, I felt Krysten did a great job as

there was a good mix of information and images to keep the viewer’s attention. The first half of Chapter

10 was presented by Melany Perez and dealt with language fundamentals. I felt that Melany did a good

job but could have broken down the information a bit more into smaller bullet points and included images

to help break up all the information on the screen. The second half of Chapter 10 was presented by Lauren

Aguiar and dealt with audience-centered language, such as using the proper language with your audience.

I felt that Lauren did a good job as the information was clear and well summarized, but she could have

used some images to complement the information. The first part of Chapter 11 was presented by Kayla

and dealt with integrating presentation media, which essentially means understanding what type of

presentation you will be using and making sure that your information is short and to the point. Kayla did a

good job, as the information was summarized well, but she could have used more images for the later

slides. The second half of Chapter 11 was presented by Laura and dealt with keeping your presentations

short and simple. I felt that Laura’s information was good, but the videos she chose dragged on a bit too

long, and she could have instead chosen some key points from the video. Chapter 12 was presented by

both Kevin Dorta and Leily Rivero and dealt with properly delivering your speech and ways to avoid

getting nervous. I felt that Kevin and Leily did a good job but could have condensed the information down

more on the slides and included images. Overall, Group Three did a great job but could have used more

images in their presentation to help break up all the words on-screen.

Group Four was composed of Rachel Bardelas Falcon, Tatyana Matallana, Natalie Alarcon, Najohlis

Colmenares, Geovanny Tabares, and Yanny Ledesma. Chapter 13 was presented by Rachel and discussed

informative speaking. I felt that Rachel did a great job, as she highlighted key information and included

images to help retain the audience’s attention. Chapter 14 was presented by Tatyana Matallana and dealt

with the different forms of persuasion. I think that Tatyana had good information but needed to break the

information down into bullet points and include some images. Chapter 15 was presented by Natalie and

dealt with what makes up an argument and how to use claims, evidence, and reasoning effectively.

Overall, I felt that Natalie had a good mix of bullet points and images, leading to a good presentation.

Chapter 16 was presented by both Najohlis Colmenares and Geovanny Tabares and dealt with distance-

speaking and practical guides for media appearances. I felt that they both did a great job with their info as

they had concise bullet points and images to accompany the information. Chapter 17 was presented by

Yanny Ledesma and dealt with the different types of speeches. I felt that Yanny did a great job, as she had

the perfect mix of both info and images. Overall, I felt that Group Four did a fantastic job, and I didn’t

have much to nitpick.

Overall, I felt that every group did a great job. I also found the intros and conclusions done by

Stephanie and Paulino were very well done and properly introduced and concluded each group’s work

well. Public speaking is not something that’s simple to do but I felt that every person did a great job

considering how hard it is to speak in front of people.
